Chaos erupts as DD Mabuza fails to pitch

The angry crowd dispersed and headed to the Plaza.

There is unrest at Kamaqhekeza Plaza at Naas, the residents are not happy because the Premier Mr DD Mabuza failed to keep his promise.

Mabuza came to address the community on Monday after they embarked on a week-long protest. Ranging on top of their demands was the issue of water supply.

DD promised the residents that he will be back on Thursday with the relevant departments.

It was this morning during a gathering at the Kamaqhekeza hall that the residents were told that premier will not be addressing them but instead he has sent Ms Sasekani Manzini, MEC for Public Works and Transport.

The crowd refused to be addressed by her. “DD told us he will come back today, we want him here, we will not continue with the meeting without him,” they said. The angry crowd dispersed and headed to the Plaza.

For fear of having shops looted, securities closed gates at the plaza causing traffic chaos.

Street vendors also packed their things. The crowd then gathered at the filling station where they had their meeting
They were addressed by the Practical Radical Economic Transformation (PRET) president, Themba Sigudla.

” I am putting my head on the line, I will make sure that we get a date from the Premier s’ office, we want him here, not Sasekani.”

He urged the residents not to start chaos but wait for him to give a feedback.

 

The crowd have since been dispersed and Police are in the area monitoring the situation as shops remain closed.
