“As parents, we are worried that our children will get sick because they are playing in the street with dirty water containing human waste. It’s not the first time that we experienced such a problem and we reported the matter to the municipality, but it seems like they are unable to solve the problem because technicians came and after
some few days, they started leaking or blocked again,” said a concerned parent, Hlaleleni Ngomane.

The communication officer at the City of Mbombela Local Municipality Southern region, Mr Samuel Jele said “We are aware of the problem. As we are speaking, I confirmed with our technicians that they are on the site fixing the problem. Let me also indicate that this matter is one of the the blocked sewerage’s that we are dealing with, but the challenge that we have is that the sewerage’s are overloaded, but as a municipality, we are doing our best to resolve the matter. In most cases we discovered that community members placed foreign objects in their toilets which led to the blockage,” said Jele.
