Three suspects on the run after attacking a 69 year old man

The thieves ransacked his house, stole his cash and car.

A 69-year-old pensioner narrowly escaped death yesterday morning when three unknown men tried to suffocate him during a robbery in his house.

According to Capt Jabu Ndubane spokesperson for the Pienaar Cluster, the incident happened at Maminza section around 01:00.

The old man was woken by three males who switched off his bedroom lights. “They covered him with a blanket, stuffed his mouth with a cloth, tied his hands and feet with an electric cable before ransacking the house,” explained Ndubane.

The suspects stole R360 cash. They allegedly poured the pensioner with petrol before fleeing in his car a Mazda etude, with registration number DFD 041 MP. The car was later recovered abandoned along the Airport road. No arrests made yet. A case of house robbery was opened and investigations are continuing.
