School resumes in Middleplaas

Things are back to normal at Middleplaas after a week-long protest which resulted in three schools being blocked and two learners shot.

Driekoppies- Community members were protesting, demanding proper ablution facilities and infrastructure for the Mpumelelo Primary School, after one learner allegedly fell into an old toilet pit. Learners have gone back to school yesterday after MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Ms.Sasekani Manzini addressed the community on Friday.

Manzini has promised the community that they will demolish the pit toilets. She said the school will be provided with enough water so that they can be able to use the ablution facilities that were donated in 2015, which they were unable to use because of water shortage in the area.
