Teachers as queens for a day

As Women`s Month comes to an end, teachers from Lowveld High School were treated as queens for the day.

MBOMBELA –  As teachers, they develop society and teach about life. They were in turn pampered by a group of five women, Katie Joubert, Lucia Ochan, Maragret Strydom, Jennie Zondagh and Lourika Mollentze who hosted an event for them as a token of appreciation.

Ms Katie Joubert, a lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology and the main host of the event, said that teachers make as much effort as parents do on raising their children.

“We need to appreciate women as they are the pillars of the society and teachers of life,” said Joubert.
She also added that there are plans to take this initiative all over the province in showing teachers appreciation. She has come together gathered with the other four women doing different professions to help her grow this initiative.

Lucia Ochan, who owns a skincare clinic and also a Mrs Mpumalanga second runner-up 2016, said that she would walk tall as a teacher because she would be producing professionals of tomorrow. “Teachers need to be shown full appreciation as they take care of children who are not their own,” said Ochan.
There are plans for an annual event of all schools all in Mpumalanga Province under one theme, appreciating teachers.
