Let’s rally behind our two top 16 finalists

The first live show of Idols Season 13 was a spectacular celebration of all things music and talent on Sunday evening!

From the opening sequence in which the eight contestants performed the ghetto fabulous Bongo Maffin hit, Thath’iSgubhu, to enjoying the toe-tapping tune Tigi by Sands, Idols 13 was officially off on a high.

The evening’s theme was Break Out Hits, a fitting theme considering that Sunday was the first major step into stardom for our own Idols.

Mpumalanga is represented by Blessed Mlangeni, a 23-year-old education student from Mbombela who auditioned in Pretoria. She was a member of JR’s winning choir in Clash of the Choirs and she’s seriously taking Unathi’ advice to not hold back, as her Theatre Week performances proved.

There is also Faith Msibi from Emalahleni who first auditioned with her two sisters in Season 12. This time, her Pretoria audition was just herself and her confidence. The 25-year-old “preachers kid” says she’s got her nerves in check this time and is ready to fight for her place in the spotlight.
