Friends and family pay their last tribute to the teacher who was killed by her husband

Nonyane revealed that Kate had no intentions of getting back to Mdluli because he was emotionally abusing her.

Friends and family of the late Kate Chiloane(30) , who was shot dead at Sedibasathutho Primary School on Monday morning, never thought her husband, Vusi Mdluli, would kill her.
“Yes I knew there were problems between them, but never knew it will end up like this,” says Chiloane’s friend, Fortunate Mkasi an admin clerk of the school.

Mkasi said she was aware of the Facebook comments posted by Mdluli on his Facebook, but never thought it would be so real. “Kate would tell me to check those Facebook posts. I knew danger was coming, but I was not sure how and what to do. As a young woman, I’ve learned never to take things lightly what the other person says in a relationship because you never know what may follow.”
Mkasi says she was lucky not to be around when the incident happened. “Maybe I would have been shot too,” she adds.

Kate’s cousin, Ms Lizzy Nonyane said it was hard to accept that Kate is no more, but both families were helping each other to come to terms on what happened. “We were together even when preparing for the deceased’s death certificates, we have no grudges against them,” she says.

Nonyane revealed that Kate had no intentions of getting back to Mdluli because he was emotionally abusing her. According to the school principal, Ms Julian Mboweni, she tried to invite the couple to her office as she could see that they were arguing over an unknown matter on Monday morning. She said three bullets were fired at Chiloane, two on her back when she was trying to run to the principal’s office and a third one on Chiloane’s head when she had already fallen on the ground . Both deceased will be buried by their families this Saturday.
