Former principal to appear in court on allegations of assault

His appearance stems from an incident which is alleged to have taken place at a school in Mhluzi, near Middelburg.

NELSPRUIT – A 44 year old former school principal, is expected to appear at the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on September 6, 2017, facing an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) allegation.

According to information at police disposal,  on  August 4 2016, the suspect allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old learner, Siphamandla Fana Choma who later  passed on. The cause of death of Choma is unknown at the moment, however the police opened an inquest docket to probe his death, for which only preliminary post mortem results  were received but sent back for further processing. The final post mortem results are still awaited before the matter can be finalised.

The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma urged the community and the media not to prejudge any matter that is before the courts, but to give enough opportunity to the authorities to process cases until finality.
