Victim fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in front of his mother
BARBERTON –Extension 10 and 11 is a war zone. Yesterday two people were shot and one of them died.The victim who survived is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in front of his mother. It is alleged that the shootings are related to gangsterism.
It is alleged that there is an on-going war between different gang members from different extensions.
The shootings have forced residents to be indoors before 20.00 for safety reasons because gun shots around that time. It is also alleged that the war was declared after multiple vehicles were torched after a community meeting ended in disagreement. It is said that some owners of the torched vehicles were promised that their vehicles would be replaced. To date, none of that has happened, then they went on a rampage avenging for their unpaid and damaged vehicles.

The spokesperson of the Pienaar Cluster, Capt Jabu Ndubane confirmed the incidents and indicated that no one has been arrested.
“It’s alleged that one of the victims was shot after he was accused of befriending a certain guy whose identity is known, but can’t be revealed.The one who was shot at extension 11 died at the scene and the one who is fighting for his life in hospital, was left by suspects in a pool of blood as they thought he was dead. We are busy with investigations.”
