The municipality spokesperson, Joseph Ngala said they were caught by surprise by the unruly behaviour of the employees. “First of all the employees came to the municipal offices unexpectedly, demanding to speak to the city manager but unfortunately only to find that he was not in the office due to other commitments. However, they promised to wait for his return so that they could voice their grievances. But now we are surprised and disturbed that they have taken to the streets of the city, causing havoc,” he explained.

Ngala said the municipality was aware of the issues and that they were working to find amicable solutions to all the problems. “We want to repeat as municipality, that every time there are issues, people must follow the right procedures to get their problems solved because if anyone should be found on the wrong side of the law, that person will be dealt with accordingly,” he concluded.
