Local ANC meets with KZN branch

In a move to foster unity within the ruling party, KwaZulu-Natal's provincial executive leadership held a consultative meeting with their local counterparts to seek solutions to the crucial problems facing the organisation.

MBOMBELA – Led by its chairperson, Mr Sihle Zikalala, after hours of deliberations with provincial chairperson, Mr David Mabuza on Monday, they expressed much discontent with the alleged state capture of their government by business people, including the Gupta family.

Foremost in their address to the media is that both provinces have distanced themselves from the alleged state capture and urged for the institution of a commission of inquiry to unravel the truth.

“What is important for us at this juncture is ensuring and fostering unity within the organisation. The main objective is also to ensure that party policies are adhered to through our official document, Through The Eye of The Needle, to the core, ensuring that processes of electing a new leadership at the December conference emanate from the wishes of the branches,” said Zikalala.

Mabuza, on the one hand, reputed as the only leader who is enforcing unity in the ANC, said, “We’re not discussing any names here, but have been engaged in dialogue to find common ground among provinces.”

Questioned on the state capture, both leaders indicated that they are opposed to the tendency of business controlling government. “We’re saying, business should desist from influencing government. We deal with lots of business entities as government. They shouldn’t have any influence on how government should operate,” added Mabuza.

Zikalala said, “These parasitic bourgeois, whom we’ve heard so much about in the media, have to be stopped. We need a judicial commission of inquiry to be set up and investigate. Should evidence pinpoint at certain individuals, then strict disciplinary action must be taken.”
