Offender loses privileges after found guilty

Inmate will not have access to his family or relatives for three months

BARBERTON – The 21-year-old offender who was found with dagga in his cell at Correctional Services Medium B appeared before a disciplinary hearing and has been stripped of some of his privileges.

The spokesperson of the facility, Mr Mesia Hlongwane confirmed that the offender is not going to see his family or relatives for three months. “We didn’t downgrade him, but he lost some of his privileges – he is not allowed to be visited by his family for three months. During the internal hearings, our findings found him guilty for possession of dagga of 1,2kg. According to the offender, he was not selling the dagga, but said he was smoking it,” he stated.
