Eight people killed on Mpumalanga roads over the long weekend

Five of them were killed on Sunday night during a head-on collision between a Toyota and a Polo sedan on the road between Bethal and Trichardt.

A total of eight lives were lost in two accidents on the roads of the province over the past long weekend.

Five people were killed on Sunday night during a head-on collision, between a Toyota and a Polo sedan, on the Bethal and Trichardt road.

“Four occupants of the Toyota Sedan including the driver died on the scene. The driver of the Polo also died on the spot,” explained Joseph Mabuza spokesperson for the department of safety security and liaison.

Mabuza adds that the accident happened a few hours after three people lost their lives on the on the N4 Schoemanskloof road on Sunday.

The incident happened about three kilometres form Montrose turn off. Six others were seriously injured from this accident
