Three years of training to become Traffic Officer

MEC Pat Ngomane said the college is meant to service the whole country and the province. This means that all people, irrespective of where one comes from the college should be utilised for training purposes only.

MKHUHLU – People who want to be trained as traffic officers in the 13 traffic colleges around the country will, in future, study for three years to obtain level 6 diplomas.

This was announced by Road Traffic Management Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Advocate Makhosini Msibi, who delivered a message of support during the launch of the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College (MTTC) on Saturday at Mkhuhlu in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

“Msibi explained that the process was done to ensure standardisation of this important career in order to effectively deal with law enforcement and road safety in the country. He also indicated that in future all trainees will further be equipped with crime prevention skills and this is done as part of working towards creation of a single police service in the country,” said the Mpumalanga department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison.

Speaking at the launch, MEC Pat Ngomane promised the community that local residents will be prioritised in recruitment of posts at the college.

What you need to know about the college:

  • 250 job opportunities were created
  • There are  now permanent employees at the college as general workers, receptionists, instructors, lecturers and assessors.
  • The college accommodates 160 learners per learning period.
