UPDATE: Loan shark educator’s widow granted bail

The magistrate ruled that the state case is weak against the accused, Ms Smangele Shongwe.

Vusi Mona’s wife was granted R5000,00 bail at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court today on condition that she attends court when she is required to.

This comes after Magistrate Hendrick Rust stated that an accused person is innocent until proven guilty. “The court must not lose sight of the original meaning of bail but it must be satisfied that the accused will stand trail,” said Magistrate Hendrick.

Mona’s wife and other suspects who were recently arrested will appear in court on June 23. Investigations continue.
