MPUMALANGA – Five suspects Hamilton Mathebula (38), Mthabeleng Mngwenya (29), Bheki Nkosi(30), Mthombisi Vicent Hlongwane (25) and Sbongile Eddie Nkosi appeared at Kabokweni Magistrate Court on Tuesday for Illegal Possession of Explosive Device and the case is postponed for today to set a date for formal bail application. However, the suspects are remanded in custody.

The suspects were arrested by members of Mpumalanga Hawks, TRT and Kabokweni SAPS on Friday after they planned to blast a safe in a church at Chweni ( Khumbulani trust Kabokweni area) whereby they believed that there was cash and Kruger’s rand in a safe.
The team met with the suspects on their way to church and they were immediately arrested. The suspects were found in possession of explosive device (42 Detonator shock tubes) valued to R60 000 and a BMW vehicle with registration number DFR 761 MP valued to R70 000 was confiscated.
