A suspect in his 30s was arrested on Friday morning after he and his two accomplices attacked a woman in her house at Extension 9, Embalenhle near Secunda.
According to information at the police’s disposal, two armed suspects entered the house of the victim at approximately 10.30, with an aim of shooting the woman, fortunately the firearm had a stoppage. The victim managed to escape to seek assistance from a white Toyota Tazz which was parked nearby not knowing that it belonged to the assailants.

One suspect who was waiting in the getaway vehicle shot at her, however, she managed to get out and rushed to the hospital for medical examination.
Police were summoned and they managed to arrest one of the suspects through the assistance of the community. During the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and will appear before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday facing a charge of attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
This incident follows another one where a 61-year-old man was fatally wounded on Thursday at Extension 15, also at Embalenhle.
According to information received, two suspects entered the elderly man’s house at approximately 18.30, shot him dead and robbed him of his firearm before fleeing the scene. They then jumped into a grey VW Polo which was waiting outside with a third suspect in it and drove off.
