Health department ready for Easter weekend

Emergency Medical Services squads will be tactically deployed for the Easter holidays to provide a swift response in circumstances of an emergency.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health Emergency Medical Services squads will be tactically deployed for the Easter holidays to provide a swift response in circumstances of an emergency.

The Easter weekend is notorious with horrible accidents caused by a variety of factors such as fatigue and driving under the influence of alcohol.

They (EMS) will render rapid, effective and efficient emergency medical services in accordance with Health norms and standards and also provide a rapid transportation of patients to nearest health facilities.

Health MEC, Mr. Gillion Mashego, want to assure people of the province and those who will be travelling to our province that all our facilities and EMS will be fully functional during the Easter holidays to ensure excellent Healthcare is provided to every person in need of our health care services.

“The emergency vehicles will be placed at strategic points on major routes across the province. This will be to ensure quick response to major accidents and to raise awareness amongst road users that these services are just a phone call away when needed.

“The people can access the communication centre via different methods of communication. The first method is via the toll free Telkom number 10177 which can be accessed from any public telephone line or house telephone line or cellphone network. The other method of calling the communication center is via the 112 cellphone network line”, said Mashego.
