Learner committed suicide for R200

Learner committed suicide after his family refused to give him R200 to pay his friend

MASOYI – A grade 10 learner from Mshadza high school left her family and classmate in shock after he committed suicide on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the pupil decided to commit suicide after his family refused to give him R200 to pay his friend after he lost his cell phone.

Police investigations revealed that the learner needed the money to pay his friend after he stole a pack of dagga and sold it to his peers.

“We are still busy with an investigation because it seems like the deceased was trying to protect his friend that he was a dagga dealer, that is why he left wrong information on his death note. According the information that we have obtained from other learners, the deceased’s friend was selling dagga at school so the issue of a cell phone is not true,”said Nonyane.
