MBOMBELA – Roadworks are already taking place on the portion of road stretching between the Kanyamazane Road near the traffic department and Valencia.
“The closure has been estimated to last three months, from April 3 until mid-June.
This will give constructors enough time to work on the additional two lanes to upgrade the current road to four. Upon completion of the project, motorists will enjoy smooth driving without any traffic congestion,” explained Mr Thembela Mankayi, the project’s safety officer.

From April 3 motorists are urged to use alternative routes to and from Mbombela, either the N4-Valencia route or the KaMagugu Road opposite the Agricultural Research Council.
The construction began in March 2016 and was been delayed due to a wetland concern.
“We are still waiting for the issuing of environmental permits to continue work near the wetland area,” said Dube.
