Women council is fed up of the increasing number of taverns

Parents are fed up of tavern owners who are failing to close on time and continue selling booze to under aged children.

MBOMBELA – Women from the district will now have a good platform to voice out their challenges to government.
This comes after the official launch of the Ehlanzeni Women’s Council on Friday afternoon at Nutting House Guest Lodge on the outskirts in the city.

The women also cried out about the increasing number of taverns in the various townships and went further and called upon government to do something.

One of the concerned parents, Ms Anele Dlamini was quoted by this publication saying: “Tavern owners are making money by killing our children. Some of the taverns are operating 24 hours and they have the guts to sell liquor to under aged children and pregnant women.”

 
Some of the areas that have taverns not far away from schools and churches are Pienaar, Masoyi and Kabokweni.
