SASSA officials granted bail

MPUMALANGA – Eight suspects arrested by members of the Hawks Mpumalanga, SASSA and Crime Intelligence officers were granted bail at Tonga Magistrate Court on Friday.
The accused each paid R2 000 on the condition they hand in their passports. The case is postponed to May 26 for further investigation. The accused were also given the following conditions: Accused one, two, four and five should either be found at home or at their work place should they be needed.
Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Zodwa Mokoena commended the officers for cracking a whip on corruption, saying whoever is involved in any fraudulent and corrupt activities must be warned that the clock is ticking and the Hawks are closing in on them.

“Corruption in government and private sector robs our people of what is due to them and as a unit entrusted with rooting out corruption, we will stop at nothing to ensure that corrupt officials are removed from the system and face the wrath of the justice system,” said Major General Mokoena.
