Water levels still low in local dams

Dams are still very low which includes Witklip and Da Gama dam.

MBOMBELA – Despite the heavy rain fall that has been experienced this week, water levels at all dams in the province have had a very slight increase, according to the department of water and sanitation.

The spokesperson of the department, Mr Themba Khoza said some of the dams are still very low which includes Witklip and Da Gama dam,but there is an increase of water levels at Inyaka Dam in Bushbuckridge.

“This means we must continue saving water and use the available water sparingly and wisely.

We also need to remember that South Africa is a water scarce country, so water conservation is crucial for water security,”said Khoza.
