JEPPE’S REEF – The victim was sleeping with her siblings when an unknown man gained access to the house through the window after smashing it with a hammer.
The suspect woke the girl up and started assaulting her, he then hurled an iron hitting her on the head and stabbed her in the hand with a knife. The girl managed to escape and the suspect fled with two phones belonging to the victim.

“This is not the first time we having a break-in, last year December we were away during the holidays, and when we came back, we found our house vandalised and all the victim’s clothes torn, that is when we realised that whoever was breaking into our house, was only targeting my daughter,’’ said Ms Phephile Sandlane, the mother of the victim.
Schoemansdal police were called to the scene and they rushed the girl to Shongwe Hospital where she received treatment. A case of assault and theft has been opened. No arrests have been made yet as police are still busy with investigations.
