Scores killed in road accidents over weekend

In a period of less than 24 hours 15 people have been reported to be dead in different roads accidents in the Nkomazi region this past weekend.

Nkomazi – On Saturday at Coeperedal –Strydomblock near Komati Bridge a sedan lost control and hit a tree all five occupants in that car died on the scene.

In another horrific accident in the R570 between Schomansdal and Jeppesreef a Polo and Uno had a head on collision and six people died on that accident. Meanwhile three other people died after the car they were travelling with hit a tree in kaMhlushwa.

Three died on the KaMhlushwa road after the car they were driving hit a tree.

Another person died in the N4 road between Shell petrol station and Komatipoort after his car lost control and hit a tree.

The spokesperson in the department of safety security and liaison in Mpumalanga Joseph Mabuza have confirmed all the incidents ” MEC Pet Ngomane has passed condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and also send a stern warning to drivers to relax and don’t drive under influence of alcohol,” said Mabuza.
