Criminals target laptops, cellphones, electrical appliances and other valuables left unattended in the car.

WHITE RIVER – The local police warn motorists to avoid leaving valuable items in their cars around parking areas in town.

“We have seen an increase in the number of reported cases of theft from vehicles in parking areas, as well as residential areas. The criminals target laptops, cellphones, electrical appliances and other valuables left unattended in the car,” explained Const Cynthia Mbokodo, spokesperson of White River police.

Mbokodo added that motorists should safely lock their car boots before leaving their homes.

She added that the police landlines are now fixed after a few days of being unavailable due to interruptions experienced after recent heavy rains.
