Department responds to Rob’s crisis

Yesterday, Mpumalanga News published an article titled:Rob's casualty ward a disaster. At the time of going to print, the Department of Health had not responded accordingly.

Patients have complained bitterly about non-attendance by the medical stuff including the administration at Rob Ferreira Hospital.

Some of them wait at the casualty for almost four days without being issued their files by the staff. After sending a media enquiry to the Department of Health on Monday, they issued out a statement yesterday.

In part it reads:

The Mpumalanga Department of Health will swing its focus on concerns raised by the public that they are not being attended to on time when visiting health facilities. These follows numerous complaints brought to the Department by patients in various health facilities including Rob Ferreira hospital.

Despite these allegations, the Department would like to ensure the public that the Department is doing everything to ensure that patients are attended to on time. The department will not tolerate the negligence of patients in all facilities and will leave no stone unturned to ensure that this situation is corrected.

The Department would like to encourage members of the public to continue to bring forth any complaints that they might have regarding the provision of health services in the provinces health facilities. This has a positive impact as it helps the Department to correct any acts of wrong doings.

The Department would like the public to know that the Department is in a process of filling vacant posts of all doctors, specialists and nurses to ensure that health services is rendered at a high level. The Department would also like to apologise to all patients that have been attended late in the health facilities.
