Traffic light will ease congestion

The robots are meant to lessen the traffic jam and also widen the road to allow motorists to drive freely.

MBOMBELA – Due to high traffic volumes at the intersection of the KaMagugu Road (D2296) and the N4, robots have finally been erected.

There was daily frustration due to traffic delays during peak hours.

There were officers who monitored and controlled the traffic when it became hectic. “We are now happy that there will be traffic lights and life will be much better,” said a taxi driver.
Bus and taxi commuters from Matsulu and KaNyamazane said they are relieved that they will no longer be delayed while going to work.

Spokesperson for City of Mbombela Municipality, Mr Joseph Ngala said, “This is part of our neigbourhood development programme. It is meant to connect our villages. We have waited over the past few years for the roads to be transferred from provincial to municipal government. We saw there was so much congestion in the mornings and afternoons. We wanted to lessen the traffic jam and also widen the road so that our people can drive freely”.
