Learners achieve high on the night shift

Essentially, the two boys saved their lunch money to purchase airtime for 60 minutes free talk time.

MATAFFIN – Vodacom’s night-shift service has been of great assistance to two lads at Cyril Clarke Secondary School.

Mthokozeleni Sithole and Sanele Lubisi, who both reside in Msholozi, passed their matric with flying colours. The duo admit it was not the easiest of times.
Mthokozoleni remembers the days he struggled to study at home late at night.

“We spent most of our days on the road and at school last year. After school we attended classes and we often would not have taxi fare. Hiking back home was the solution and by the time we arrived, it would be sunset.  Studying was a bit of a challenge, because some people in our house did not understand how important it was for me to pass my exams. Others wanted to watch television, which made it difficult for me to concentrate.”

Sanele explains that it took hard work and dedication to achieve their desired results. “We live in different sections, so we had to devise a plan. Our cellphones were the solution. Technology is the best,” he says.

Midnight was the best time to study because everyone was sleeping.” Sanele, who lives with his disabled mother and grandmother, obtained four distinctions while Mthokozeni bagged six.
