The lines to the station rings without an answer. Const Cynthia Mbokodo says electricity interruptions began last week following heavy rains in the area. She says the matter has already been reported to Telkom.

“We apologise to the community for these inconveniences. In the meantime the community can reach the station by using the 10111 number. Once the problem is sorted we will inform them,” Mbokodo said.

Last month KaNyamazane Police Station also made headlines when journalists learned that their landline was not working for over a year. By then Brig Leonard Hlathi, provincial spokesperson for the police sector, said problems with lines were caused by things like the lightning. The community of KaNyamazane was provided with alternative numbers, 013-7949-727 and 082-9230-677, to reach the police station.
