KANYAMAZANE – Sitintile Secondary School continues to be the best learning institution in this kasi, having proved to have the highest enrolment of 190 matric learners in the Mngwenya Circuit who achieved a whopping 87,36 pass rate.

Although the results show a one per cent decline from the previous year’s 88,36 per cent, the marks still leave the outgoing school’s principal, Mr Harold Gondwe, well pleased.

“This includes the 56 progressed learners, some of whom didn’t write all their subjects, of which 33 will write some of their subjects in June. However, I am still happy with the overall performance. We are a school that never underperforms,” he said.

Sitintile produced one of the province’s top-10 learners in Busisiwe Sibiya from Pienaar who achieved 100 per cent in accounting, with distinctions in physical science, mathematics, natural sciences, life orientation, English and level six in siSwati. Her runner-up, also from Pienaar, is Ntando Mthimkhulu who obtained 96 per cent in accounting and distinctions in physical science, mathematics, natural sciences, life orientation, English and level six in siSwati.

This year’s results also marked a farewell to Gondwe who is now on pension after 31 years of reputable service in the same school since 1985. He joined as a private teacher after working for Delta for years and developed himself through distance learning to became the dynamic leader he is today.

“I will always cherish the impact I made on the learners, teachers and parents of this school. I’m glad I am leaving with the recognition of the long-time serving teacher from the province,” he said. He added that extramural activities such as debates and other projects were some of the ingredients of running a successful school. His advice to his successor is to work in consultation with all stakeholders. He also urged teachers to be passion driven.

“Where there’s a will, there is a way. One needs to be driven by love to succeed in his or her career,” he adds.

The top five schools in Mngwenya Circuit were Thembeka Secondary with 89,58 followed by Sitintile Secondary with 87,36, then Khaliphani with 85,96, Ncakini with 81,29 and Lekazi Central with 79,86.
