SiSwati rapper making a name for himself

The trend of rapping in SiSwati seems to be growing fast, but for young Sifiso Lekhuleni it has become a lifestyle.

Affectionately known to his growing fan base as Yung Fess, Lekhuleni is making a name for himself in the industry and the whole country is soon to bear witness to that. This young lad has just released his latest offering, an EP that was made available to the public on Friday, December 9.

The EP has a song named Mamiza, in radio edit, vocals, and instrumentals. The radio edit is already enjoying airplay on different top radio stations in the country.

“The reception of my music is really humbling. Mamiza is played on Thobela FM and Ukhozi FM already, and I am confident that more radio stations will soon be playing it. I am also currently on a tour to promote the song, widen my fan base, and prepare the ground for my upcoming album which will be released in April next year,” Yung Fess.

The passion can be seen burning in his eyes when he talks about his plans as a musician. “I’ve had the privilege of opening for Ricky Rick at Cargo Lounge, and I will be performing alongside huge names such as Kwesta, and Babes Wodumo at the Music Garden on December 16. I will also be performing at Moses Mabida Stadium on the following day.

The support I’ve been getting from Jozi and KwaZulu Natal is just enormous,” he added. This 20-year-old is also working with Gigi Lamayne for the launch of her new album which will be hosted at Ngodini, Cargo Lounge. “Working with Gigi is just a great experience for me, I will be performing with her at Cargo on December 30. I believe the venue will be packed to the brim, because I know how supportive people around here are,” he added.

Yung Fess has his own clothing line and he is also an ambassador for Joowish. “The NelCity King clothing brand has grown massively, we get calls for orders from as far as Cape Town. I am also working as a brand ambassador for Joowish clothing. I took some time to study the business part of the industry, it made me realise that there’s just so much one can explore, and that’s exactly what I plan to do,” he concluded. Mamiza is now available on iTunes, Amazon, and Googleplay Music.
