MBOMBELA – A scam involving fake identity documents (ID) surfaced in the Lowveld in places such as Newscom, Siligani and KaBokweni.
A man was found using a fake ID last Tuesday.
KaBokweni police officers questioned him about it. He later confessed that he had purchased it. He also revealed that the mastermind behind the scam was Mr Jeffery Mathumbu, who was then arrested for fraud and the selling of fake ID’s.

Mpumalanga News recently discovered that a 41-year-old man will have a bleak Christmas this year as he is unable to gain access to his money in his bank account, as a result of the fake ID scam.

“An unknown man applied for a debit card using a fake ID with my personal details and the bank decided to freeze my account.
“Everything on the fake ID is the same as mine and I don’t know how he got of my personal details. My life is a mess,” Mr Brain Gubhi said.
