Drivers unite against illegal operators

This follows after the number of Avanzas increased in the streets of Matsulu. It is alleged that people from outside this township with the same vehicles, take chances of operating here.

MATSULU – Local taxis drivers have decided to prevent all illegal drivers who do not reside in the township from operating in the area.

This follows after the number of Avanzas increased in the streets of Matsulu. It is alleged that people from outside this township with the same vehicles, take chances of operating here.
Chairperson of the local drivers, Read Lukhele said, “There is a large number of Avanza vehicles that are not owned by Matsulu residents. These people come here and operate illegally. They are undermining us. Also, people from the township are the ones informing their relatives about the business,” he said.
They will make an appointment with the Matsulu Taxi Association to discuss the matter.

One of the local owners, Penuel Maseko said, “It is true that people are trying their luck by operating in our area. Why are those people not using those cars in their townships?
“This is our operational area, they can’t just come here and disturb our business.
We survive with this money and we also have families to support. The association should resolve this problem immediately
as it is affecting us financially,” he concluded.
