Residents demand park be revamped

The ANC Youth League of Ward 15 in Stonehenge took to the streets in protest on Saturday for the local park to be revamped.

MBOMBELA –  Nsizwa Nkosi, who has been residing in the suburb since 2001, says it is not safe for the children to play in the streets. “We are not protesting, all we want is a place where recreational activities can take place and for meetings to be held,” said Nkosi.

A petition was signed on the day, receiving more than 100 signatures from motorists who stopped in support of the initiative.
“The signed petition will be handed over to the City of Mbombela Local Municipality for consideration next week. There is no place to relax and unwind or to even hold meetings, we end up meeting in the streets. If we have to gather in this manner weekly, then so be it. This place deserves a proper park,” concluded Nkosi.
