EMAKHAZENI- The fire fighters of the Emakhazeni Local Municipality in Belfast, feel empowered and ready to take on any flame in the area after receiving brand new kit from Trans African Concessions (TRAC).
The company donated eleven full uniforms and a bunker gear to the fire brigades as part of TRAC’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI).
TRAC also funded the final phase of the upgrade of the Emakhazeni Fire Station which included the completion of the facility’s automatic bay doors, entry gates and wall repairs.
The request for the sponsorship which valued over R1 million, came from TRAC’s patrol and roadside assistance contractors Masiwilange. The contractor was working closely with the fire brigades and learnt of the challenges faced by the unit.
Given that fire fighters play a vital role in response to emergencies in their area, including the N4 Toll Route, TRAC committed whole-heartedly to the sponsorship.
According to TRAC CEO Mr Graham Esterhuysen, essential services such as firefighting are the foundation of a community and therefore it is imperative that they are geared to assist in any sort of emergency within their municipality.
“It is our pleasure to have committed to this sponsorship as we strongly believe that firemen do more than just fight fires. They are a fundamental part of any community, giving those they serve a sense of security.”
He adds that TRAC will continue to assist the emergency services of the area as much as possible. He also urged the local community to co-operate with the men and women who put their lives in danger to help others in an effort to make life better for all.
The guest of honours, the fire fighters themselves, were so elated with their new gear that they not only paraded for the municipal and TRAC officials, but also entertained them with some song and dance during the event.
