KANYAMAZANE – Heavy rains which hit some parts of the province last night caused some serious damage at several homes in this area.
At Section One in Kanyamazane most families spent the night on their feet as their houses were filled up with water.
“We are still busy trying to clean the mess caused yesterday,” says a victim. Some home owners had their brick walls destroyed by the rain.
One shack allegedly fell down altogether.
The local councillor confirmed the incident adding that they were still identifying affected homes.
Mary Sibande, a communications officer from the department of co-operative governance and traditional affairs says no incidents were reported in any of the province’s disaster management offices yesterday.
