Siyakhula Primary School pupils struck by lightning

"I was outside when I heard the learners screaming. When I went to investigate, I saw a bolt of lightning going straight into the classroom,"

DAANTJIE – Grade six pupils and teachers from Siyakhula Primary School were left in shock on Monday morning when pupils were struck by lightning in their classroom.

According to information obtained by Mpumalanga News from sources within the school, they saw a bolt of lightning in the classroom and the next moment nine pupils were lying on the floor.
They were rushed to Rob Ferreira for treatment.

“I was outside when I heard the learners screaming. When I went to investigate, I saw a bolt of lightning going straight into the classroom. It happened very fast. It was my first time seeing such a thing. I believe that the children were saved by the grace of the Almighty God because the lightning did not set the building on fire,” said a source.

On Tuesday the injured pupils had resumed their studies, but were not allowed to talk to the media.
