The crash occurs shortly after MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Petrus Ngomane requested Mozambican authorities to assist government in the fight against road carnage by educating road users about safety and ensuring that all vehicles are roadworthy.
“This is a worrying factor because I constantly plead with motorists to be cautious on the roads. We cannot lose innocent lives because of human error and negligence.
“Traffic officers are in all corners of the province to make sure people adhere to the rules, hence we also encourage and prioritize safety and for those who break the law, to be reported,” said Ngomane at the scene.
The MEC further passed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
