Ekasi talent search launched

Young people who are talented and determined to make a name in the arts will now have an opportunity to nurture their talent and spread their wings.

MBOMBELA – This comes after the recent launch of the Ekasi Talent Search and Community Development at the Orion Hotel last Saturday.

This organisation will play a vital role in assisting young people from all corners of the province to make their dreams become a reality.

The chairperson of the organisation, Martin Nkosi, told Mpumalanga News that, as the country is facing challenges of unemployment, the progamme aims to help people make a living through their talent.

• The search is on for gospel talent

“It has been proven on numerous occasions that Mpumalanga has talent and that people from the province are capable. We have been on the map for various competitions such as Idols, Clash of the Choirs and the crowning of Miss South Africa 2016, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene. The challenge that we have, is that talented youths don’t get a platform to showcase their skills, and it ends up going down the drain. This will be a thing of the past as we are here to take local talent to another level,” Nkosi said.

The organisation will not only benefit people from urban areas, but those in deep rural areas will also be assisted as the programme is rolled out in all the municipalities.
“We are going to open centres in various places. We are not only promoting local talent, we also want to engage with our youth, so much so, that they will not be distracted in their search of a meaningful life,” he added.

Nkosi urged parents to support their children and their dreams. During the launch, young people from various places such as KaBokweni, Pienaar and KaNyamazane who are skillful in dancing, art and music, were adopted by the organisation and will continue to receive training. They will also participate in fund-raising competitions.
