NKOMAZI- The MEC for education, Reginah Mhaule, visited Mjokwane Secondary School to witness the signing of examination pledges by matriculants.
Mhaule expressed her belief in the pupils as it is one of the best-performing schools in the Nkomazi Circuit.
For the past three years the school received an 87 per cent matric pass rate.
“As the Department of Education, we have faith in your abilities to reach a 100 per cent milestone, hence we offer our support and well wishes to all the grade 12s in the province. We humbly request that all our communities create an enabling environment for matrics to study. Let us all support them so they can fulfil their dreams and aspirations after secondary schooling,” she said.
Mhaule further urged parents, religious leaders and the community at large to encourage the pupils and give them enough time and space to study until the last day of the examinations. She also warned the matrics against cheating as they might be disqualified if found doing so.
Mhaule’s entourage included Miss Mpumalanga 2016, Elaine Mkhabela, who encouraged the pupils to do their best to attain a brighter future.
“It is very important to know why you are here, this is your future, work hard for it. Just leave everything aside and focus on your studies, just for the duration of the exams. Your hard work will pay off at the end of the year. Stay away from other things and concentrate on your final exams,” she said.
One of the matric pupils, 17-year-old Sindi Dlamini, said she was ready to sacrifice everything else for her exams.
“I feel so much pressure because of the upcoming exams, which I know very well will determine where I will be next year. I’m ready and I will study hard to make sure I qualify to go to university next year,” she said.
Another matriculant, Nkosiyethu Mashaba, said he and his friends were studying in groups in preparation for the exams.“I am a bit nervous, but I’m ready. I am focused on my school work and study hard in groups with my friends, so we can help one another with various subjects.”
