Gospel awards nominations

The project has grown through the support of the private sector, individuals and funding by the Mpumalanga Department of Culture Sport and Recreation.

The announcement of nominees for the third Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards will take place tomorrow evening at the Dream South Lounge in the city.

There is a record number of entries this year.

MGOMA CEO, Sandile Ngobe said, “The entries have increased due to the success of the project over the past two years. The standard and quality of entries are very high. It is encouraging for us as organisers to see that artists have had a burning desire to be part of MGOMA since its inception in 2014.

“MGOMA has turned out to be one of the massive gospel projects in the province. More than
500 000 people have participated by sending SMSes to vote for their favourite gospel artist. Last year’s event was attended by more than 3 000 people and this figure is expected to be double this year.

The project has grown through the support of the private sector, individuals and funding by the Mpumalanga Department of Culture Sport and Recreation.

“The Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards are now recognised nationally, which is an advantage to our local artists because they have a national platform on which to perform. More national artists are forming part of this year’s event. In addition to that, the event will be even bigger this year as the National Amazion Churches has decided part the awards,” said Ngobe.

“The big event is on December 4, where the ‘Holy Ghost fire’ will revive souls for the third year in a row in the province of the rising sun. It is a must-attend mega event for all Christians as the standard is expected to be very high,” Ngobe concluded.
