Primary school is raided for weapons and dagga

Nkosi added that in most cases, when they interrogated the pupils who were found with weapons, they indicated that they wanted to protect themselves

BARBERTON – Police raids in primary schools will be made more frequently as it has been discovered that carrying dangerous weapons, smuggling dagga and selling nyaope, is becoming a great problem.

Teachers and the headmaster at Barberton Academy were recently devestated after a dangerous weapon and dagga were found on two pupils.
Spokesperson for the police, Const Tutu Nkosi confirmed that such illegal activities were a problem and stated that they would focus more on primary schools.
It is allegedly that there are learners who sell them for drug kingpins at schools.

“We’ve received numerous complaints from principals and when we arrived, we searched the learners and discovered dagga and weapons.
It’s very disturbing to see learners in primary schools being involved in drug trafficking at such an early age,”
she said.

Nkosi added that in most cases, when they interrogated the pupils who were found with weapons, they indicated that they wanted to protect themselves. “Some of those we found with knives and pangas said they wanted to protect themselves after school, but refused to reveal the real reasons why they carried weapons to school”.
