Two boys drown after a severe storm

On Monday Ripinga said the number of families affected by the storm was increasing.

NKOMAZI – Two boys have drowned after a severe storm devastated the local municipality.

According to Mr Cyril Ripinga, municipal spokesperson, the minors aged eight and 15 died at different places over the weekend.

“The eight-year-old drowned in an overflooded dam at KaMhlushwa on Sunday,” he said.

On Monday Ripinga said the number of families affected by the storm was increasing.

“Initially 112 families were affected by the storm but the number kept on increasing such that on Monday morning we had about 206 families. The total number is not yet verified as the municipality and disaster management officials continue to visit the affected places,” he said.
