Department of Education is hopeful for the matriculants of 2016

We have surely come a long way in ensuring that our provincial examinations run smoothly and without any glitches.

BADPLAAS – The Mpumalanga Department of Education is ready for the 2016 final examinations.

The MEC for education, Ms Reginah Mhaule applauded the staff for their outstanding work at an event that was held last Thursday.
“Let me acknowledge the magnitude of dedication, good work and discipline that you have continued to portray over the years. We have surely come a long way in ensuring that our provincial examinations run smoothly and without any glitches. As a result of your dedication, the department continues to achieve significant results in a number of fronts to retain the dignity and pride of the province. We have recorded incident-free examinations certified by Umalusi for the past six years,” said Mhaule.

She further explained that the final examinations are an important milestone and yardstick in the assessment area of the educational dispensation. “This tells us more about the need and importance of this meeting to rally for strength, support and courage so that when the examination process begins from October 24 to November 29, we are ready to soldier on and focus on the work at hand,” she said.
Mhaule then welcomed the report on the state of readiness of the administration for the 2016 examinations.

“I am quite pleased by the progress and that the appointment and training of the 552 chief invigilators have been completed. I am thrilled that all systems are ready and raring to see us through the 2016 NSC examination process. This is our call for action and need I say that over the years, you have proven to be capable of delivering on this mandate. Our spirit always calls on the best as we plan for perfection and exceptional success,” she added.

Mhaule also welcomed all the pastors to bless the pupils with a prayer session. When asked for words of encouragement for the class of 2016, Mhaule said this is the time where the pupils need to focus and concentrate. She emphasised that they should stay away from parties and social-media platforms as it consumes majority of their time. She urged them to be dedicated to their work and further requested that parents not give their children house chores, as they need enough time to study until the end of the examinations.
