Police hunt hijackers

BARBERTON – Police are looking for six male suspects who hijacked a truck and fled with R24 000 at Extension 14 on Friday evening.

According to the police, the driver of the truck, a 47-year-old man was doing his last delivery at Extension 14 with his colleagues when six men, of which two were armed with pistols, attacked them and forced them out of the truck.

The truck was later recovered in the bushes near the local TB hospital the same evening. “Inside the truck there was a safe and keys. When the truck was recovered, about R24 000 that was inside was gone,” said spokesperson for Barberton police, Ssergeant Tutu Nkosi.
No arrest has been made yet and police are urging anyone with information to report at the nearest police station.
