Mec urges community to love pets

I am happy to see the owners taking this matter very seriously. We still have a long way to go in terms of teaching our society about how to take care of them,"

MBOMBELA – About 108 dogs and 100 cats were vaccinated yesterday during the launch of the Rabies month at Springville.
Speaking during the launch, the newly-appointed MEC for agriculture, Vusi Shongwe said he was very pleased with the turn-out of the community as some people don’t have interest in issues that are related to pets.

“Let’s treat our pets as human beings, give them love and we must make sure that they are always healthy. I am happy to see the owners taking this matter very seriously. We still have a long way to go in terms of teaching our society about how to take care of them,” he said.

Shongwe’s visit comes after the department discovered that there’s an out-break of rabies in that area that the department decided to embark on a serious intervention onthis matter.
