Serial rapist sentenced to 35 years in prison

One of Mabuza's victims was a 14-year-old minor whom he raped six times in different places around Masoyi.

MBOMBELA – A 41-year-old serial rapist who raped three women from different places in Kabokweni, Pienaar, Masoyi and Matsulu was sentenced to a total of 35-years in prison by the Nelspruit High Court on Tuesday.

Mr Chris Mabuza was found guilty on different charges of rape he committed between 2013 and late 2014. It was heard in court that he used his dirty tricks to get the attention of unemployed women, luring them with lucrative job opportunities.

He threatened some of them to cut off their breasts and private parts. He raped some of his victims behind lone churches, near graveyards and bushes. He didn’t use protection in all the cases. One of his victim’s was raped at his mother’s house.

It was also heard in court that Mabuza threatened some of his victims while forcefully raping them. One of Mabuza’s victims was a 14-year-old minor whom he raped six times in different places around Masoyi.

The state prosecutor emphasized that the court must give Mabuza a harsher sentence as he did not show remorse for his crimes against the women. He added that if he might be released he (Mabuza) may suffer being a victim of mob justice from the community.
