The sky is the limit for gospel choir

"This is one show not to be missed and we need your support to make it work. As we speak, rehearsals are in full swing from Tuesday to Friday in preparation for the big night," says Sipho Makhabane.

The newly established gospel ensemble, Mpumalanga Praise, is led by the veteran gospel musician and producer/director of Big Fish Music Productions. Sipho “The Big Fish” Makhabane says the ensemble is a fulfilment of a long-time dream to establish a group that would take on the very best in these circles.
“I have produced gems in gospel music, but I have never done anything for my province’s artists except casually perform with them. When I was involved in a car accident on December 28, 2015, I was in a coma for six days. Some declared me dead, but the people of Mpumalanga really prayed hard for my return,” said Makhabane,
“God has allowed me to return to the province to nurture local musicians, hence Mpumalanga Praise which consists of musicians from across the province. We went through vigorous auditions in search of local talent, and I can tell you, here and now, that I have assembled the best voices that will put the province on the world map. This is not a once-off project, but is here to stay.
“We kick off our public performance at the Church on the Hill on September 3, where we will be recording a live CD and DVD from 18:00. Accompanying Mpumalanga Praise will be a star-studded line-up of established musicians who will add flavour to their beautiful renditions. From there on, the choir will embark on a nationwide tour, and who knows, we may end up on international tours, God willing. The sky is the limit.

Among the gospel musicians are Gospel Queen Rebecca Malope, Sfiso Ncwane, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Dumi Mkokstad, Donny and Thobekile.
