Prodigal apostle returns home

Church on the hill Pastor returns home after five years of ministry in Gauteng.

KAMAGUGU – Hundreds of Church on The Hill congregants came out in numbers to welcome Apostle MVG Lephoko who has ministered for five years in Gauteng.

The church was packed to capacity with members from other branches. The congregants welcomed their spiritual father warmly and showered him with gifts, as joy and excitement were written on their faces. The Sunday school children honoured elders and rendered a special song for the day.

Well-known gospel artist, Sipho Makhabane, gave a stunning performance. A traditional male Sibhaca dance group performed outstandingly. The Mpumalanga ANC Women’s League chairperson, Cllr Letta Shongwe was also present and requested a prayer for peaceful elections. She also encouraged people to vote for the ANC.

Ms Buhlebakhe Mhlongo said having a father like Lephoko is a blessing many can only dream of. “As young people, we were saddened by his departure to travel, we could not imagine how life would be without him. Church was not church without him, but we always had him in our hearts,” she said.

Mhlongo said Lephoko’s teachings, prayer and motivational talks kept them going. “Our apostle, your actions inspire us to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. That makes you our leader. We welcome you back and we love you,” she added.

Lephoko said he was happy about his return, after spreading the word of God across the country and beyond its borders in Mozambique and Swaziland. He said the day took him back 30 years to when he started the church. He reminded the congregation that the church would soon open a branch in Harare.

“I underestimated what this departure would cause,” he said. Lephoko urged church members not take the presence of their pastors or leaders for granted.
“This return is not about me, but for the people of Mbombela. This return is God’s answer to your prayers. God had responded,” he added.
